As you saw in my Halloween post, I went as miss Audrey Horne from Twin Peaks. In the show she donned some lovely little swing shoes, and in my search for some, I remembered a few years back seeing a DIY on making some out of plain white sneakers. Instead of searching for that tutorial online, I decided to just truly do it myself, and since I was doing this the day I was going out for Halloween, I had to do it quickly. So here is my rendition of the DIY swing shoe: a simple, straight-forward design.
Materials: some white Keds (mine are thrifted, leather platform ones) and a black Sharpie
Time: 15-30 mins
Step 1: Wipe off the crud from your thrifted Keds
Step 2: Outline the area you want black (I opted for a straight capped toe, but I would've gone wingtipped with a little more time). TIP: follow the stitching along the midsection and heel.
Step 3: Fill it in! You can do this quickly and messily, or if you're a perfectionist like me, you'll draw in careful lines.
That's it! Easiest DIY ever. Perfect for lazies or those who have barely any time to DIY!
Melania of Something to Borrow whipped this up comparing my look to Audrey's for her blog. I was tickled pink when I saw that photo of Audrey (had never seen it before)!
